Rediscovering Historical Fiction

I’ve always been a fan of historical romances. The elegance of ballroom dances, the weight of aristocratic titles, the tension between old and new money, the delicate servant dynamics that quietly shaped society - it fascinated me. Then there were the little details that made the stories come alive: the wallflowers lingering on the sidelines, the charming rake who couldn’t be tamed, and the scholarly lord with spectacles who cared more for his books than for the rules of the ton. Then there were the fortune hunters, the ambitious mamas determined to secure titled lords for their daughters, perfect debutantes whose biggest rebellion is stitching an extra rose into their embroidery, those late-night illicit trysts that could ruin reputations forever, two men of different ranks vying for the same woman after a remarkable transformation, and the mysterious recluse lord hiding from society. About

Hello guys 😊

My name is Mariam. I am the second of three children and was born on the 23rd of March, 2002. I’m a graduate of Biochemistry from Lagos State University.

I would love to travel around the world if I get the opportunity. I enjoy reading novels, watching movies and series, sleeping, learning new words, and I’m fascinated by different languages, cultures, and food. I’m currently learning Japanese.

I love staying indoors, but I also enjoy going out. I have a bad habit of procrastinating. I don’t have any allergies that I’m aware of. I’m a Muslim.

I’ve never had a pet (excluding the injured chick my brothers and I brought home, placed in a box with no ventilation, and unknowingly killed 😔). I’m not scared of dogs, but I do avoid them.

I’m quiet, but not shy. I like to think I have a sense of humor. The only sport I can bear to watch for more than an hour is wrestling. I love art, modest fashion, and horror movies - although I haven’t watched many.

I have a short attention span and have taken a total of only 10 pictures in the past 3 years. Weird, I know. I also have acrophobia and thalassophobia (self-diagnosed).

That’s all I can think of about myself for now. Over the next couple of months, I’ll be sharing reviews and recommendations on books and movies/series. I’d love to hear your thoughts too!

Warmest regards,

Mariam ❤️
