Rediscovering Historical Fiction

I’ve always been a fan of historical romances. The elegance of ballroom dances, the weight of aristocratic titles, the tension between old and new money, the delicate servant dynamics that quietly shaped society - it fascinated me. Then there were the little details that made the stories come alive: the wallflowers lingering on the sidelines, the charming rake who couldn’t be tamed, and the scholarly lord with spectacles who cared more for his books than for the rules of the ton. 3 Series to Watch This Month

Every other month, I’ll be sharing a mix of shows I think are worth your screen time - for those evenings when you’re not sure what to start or just need something fresh. Whether you’re into crime, weird aliens, or morally grey characters you lowkey root for (even when you shouldn’t), there’s something here for you.

1. You

A psychological thriller with a dangerously charming narrator. Joe Goldberg might look like the guy next door, but his version of love comes with obsession, manipulation, and a high body count. Twisted, addictive, and full of dark turns.

2. Resident Alien

Imagine an alien crash-landing on Earth and pretending to be a small-town doctor — awkward, hilarious, and sometimes surprisingly touching. Alan Tudyk is perfect as the clueless extraterrestrial trying to understand humans (and hide his mission to destroy them).

3. The Cleaning Lady

A gripping drama about a Cambodian doctor forced to become a cleaner for a crime syndicate to save her son’s life. It’s emotional, intense, and explores the grey spaces between survival, morality, and love.
