I’ll be honest, watching K-dramas is a real challenge for me. Not because they’re bad (most of them are actually really good), but because I have the attention span of a goldfish. It takes a lot for a show to fully hook me and make me commit all the way to the end.
More often than not, I’ll get halfway through a series, start to lose interest, and end up looking for spoilers online. Once I know how it ends, that’s it. I won’t bother finishing it.
So far this year, I’ve started a few that had potential: Welcome to Samdal-ri, A Time Called You, See You in My 19th Life… They were good up to a point, but somewhere along the way, I just zoned out.
Currently, I’m watching When Life Gives You Tangerines and Tomorrow. I haven’t decided yet if I like them. They’re hanging somewhere in the “not bad, not great” zone. I’m waiting to see if something happens that’ll really pull me in.
Update (July 13, 2025):
I’m currently on episode 7 of When Life Gives You Tangerines, and I can already say it’s way beyond what I expected. The storyline is solid, no noticeable plot holes so far, and it does a great job showing how life doesn’t always go as planned. I’ll be writing a full post on it soon, but for now, it’s easily 5 stars and a high recommendationfrom me.
Tomorrow is also shaping up really well. It’s still early, but it’s giving all the signs of something special. Let’s see where it goes.
That said, I do have a couple of Instagram-recommended shows lined up that I plan to get to eventually: Mr. Queen, Tale of the Nine Tailed, My Mister, and Twenty-Five Twenty-One. Fingers crossed one of them breaks the cycle and keeps me watching to the end.
Still, even with my wandering attention, there are a few K-dramas that did manage to capture my heart and hold it. These are my all-time favorites:
- Alchemy of Souls
- Pachinko
- The Trunk
- Death’s Game
- My Man is Cupid
- Love to Hate You
- Nevertheless
- Reply 1988
- Miraculous Brothers
- Crash Landing on You
- My Love From the Star & Heartstrings - these two were actually my first ever K-dramas
- All of Us Are Dead
- My Dearest
- My Mister
- Mr Queen
I’m sure there are more that left an impression on me, but these are the ones I can remember for now
If you're anything like me, always starting dramas and rarely finishing them, I’d love to know: what show finally got you to stay till the end?
